Week 02 Historian Summary

WEEK 0-2 STARTED WITH FEAR, CONFUSION, AND A LOT OF SWEAT! ZULU-195 IS OUR COMPANY NAME WITH US AS A SHIP BEING LEAD BY ELECTRICIAN’S MATE FIRST CLASS PLACENCIA AND HIS ASSISTANT’S: MARITIME ENFORCEMENT SPECIALIST 2ND CLASS BURRUS AND MARITIME ENFORCEMENT SPECIALIST 1ST CLASS SHENK. COMING TO BOOTCAMP, EVERYONE MUST LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE: HATCHES INSTEAD OF DOORS, SKUTTLEBUTTS INSTEAD OF WATER FOUNTAINS. THE RECTRUITS STUMBLE OVER THEIR WORDS AS THE COMPANY COMMANDERS SCREAM AND THREATEN THEM WITH SWEAT. THE COMPANY COMMANDERS PLAY GAMES WITH ZULU-195 WHEN THEY DON’T LISTEN AND WASTE TIME. PETTY OFFICER PLACENCIA HAS HAD US WALK INTO WALLS IN FORMATION, WEAR OUR SEA BAGS LIKE A GREEN BEAN, AND WILL DEFINITELY DO MUCH MORE. EVEN THOUGH WE ARE ALL FILLED WITH FEAR AND EXHAUSTION, NOTES OF INSPIRATION CAN BE HEARD IN THE SCREAMING VOICE OF PETTY OFFICER PLACENCIA AND OTHER PEOPLE WE HAVE MET AT BOOTCAMP. PETTY OFFICER PLACENCIA WANTS US TO UNDERSTAND HOW SERIOUS EVERY DETAIL IS IN THE COAST GUARD WHEN IT COULD SAVE A LIFE. THE QUESTION THAT LINGERS IN OUR MINDS IS, WILL ZULU-195 MAKE IT? ONLY TIME WILL TELL. UNTIL THEN WE WILL GET LITTLE SLEEP AND EXERCISE DAILY WITH THE COMPANY COMMANDERS LEARNING NEW INFORMATION EVERYDAY AND TRYING TO REMEMBER THE INFORMATION WHEN WE HAVE NO TIME TO STUDY. IT IS A LOT OF INFORMATION ON RANKS, PAY GRADES, AND SAFETY! FOR THE FUTURE COASTGUARDSMAN IT WILL BE CRUCUIAL. WITH LITTLE TO NO TIME TO STUDY WE ALL NEED DISCPLINE AND INITIATIVE FOR THESE FOLLOWING HARD WEEKS AT CAPE MAY. GOOD LUCK Z-195, YOU WILL NEED IT. THE SCREAMING AND CHAOS WILL ONE DAY BOTHER YOU LESS AND YOU WILL LEARN TO FACE YOUR FEARS. YOU WILL HAVE TO EVOLVE OR REMAIN AS THE DOOR ON THE ASSISTANT COMPANY COMMANDERS DOOR SAYS.
