WEEK ZERO SIX, THE MOST EXCITING WEEK OF TRAINING YET, BUT AT THE SAME TIME, THE MOST CHALLENGING AND HARDEST. IT WAS FULL OF CLASSES AND ACTIVITES. TIME OBJECTIVES WERE BEING MET. THE INCENTIVE TRAINING HAD LIGHTENED. “FIRE, FIRE, FIRE!” HAD BEEN REPLACED WITH THE NOT SO BAD, “REVEILLE, REVEILLE, REVELLE!” CADENCE WAS SUNG LOUD AND PROUD ACROSS THE REGIMENT. OUT WITH THE “PUSH-UP POSITION TAKE!” AND IN WITH THE MUNRO MILE, PUGIL STICK BOUT, AND ON-BASE LIBERTY. THINGS WERE CHANGING. THE EYE SORE OF A FLAG WAS REPLACED WITH THE COMPANY COLORS. PAPA-189 EARNED THEM LATER THAN MOST COMPANIES, BUT WHEN THEY DID, THE COMPANY KNEW THEY DESERVED THEM. PAPA HAD COME SO FAR IN JUST ZERO SEVEN DAYS; A COMPLETE TURN AROUND. ATTENTION TO DETAIL WAS GREATER THAN EVER, AND THE “SMALL” MISTAKES WERE BEING MADE LESS AND LESS. UNFORTUNETLY, THOSE “SMALL” MISTAKES IN WHICH WOULD ONLY GET A RECRUIT SOME EXTRA SWEAT IN EARLIER WEEKS OF TRAINING, COULD NOW MAKE THEM DISAPPEAR. ANOTHER ZERO SIX SHIPMATES WERE LOST IN WEEK ZERO SIX, FOR WHAT SEEMED LIKE SIMPLE MISTAKES, MISTAKES THAT JUST COULD NOT BE MADE IN SENIOR COMPANIES. WEEK ZERO SEVEN IS JUST AHEAD, THE “HOMESTRETCH” SOME MIGHT SAY. IT IS NOT TIME TO RELAX, THOUGH. ALL OF THE RESPONSIBLITLY AND PRESSURE IS ON PAPA; LET’S SEE HOW THEY HANDLE IT.
