ALFA-190 WEEK 02 SUMMARY

DISCIPLINE OR LACK THEROF! THE FIRST WEEK OF OUR TIME AT CAPE MAY AS A COMPANY HAS COME TO A CLOSE TODAY. “WEEK 02” AS IT IS CALLED HAS LEFT US TIRED, BUT INVIGORATED. IT’S A STRANGE PHENOMENON. TOMORROW WE WILL BE MARCHING IN THE SUNSET PARADE! THE NERVES ARE EASY TO SPOT IN MANY OF THE ALFA-190 FACES, BUT THERE IS NO TURNING BACK.

TODAY WE SPENT THE MAJORITY OF OUR TIME DRILLING “DISCIPLINE” INTO OUR BRAINS, RECITING PAGES FROM OUR MANUALS PRINTED ON CARD STOCK REPEATEDLY WHILE HOLDING THEM AT SHOULDER HEIGHT. THE REASON WE DID SO MUCH OF IT TODAY IS BECAUSE THERES A LACK OF FUNDAMENTAL DISCIPLINE THAT OUR COMPANY COMMANDERS HAVE ZEROED IN ON. THEY ARE WELL ON THEIR WAY TO FIXING IT, AS MANY OF US LOST COUNT OF THE WORKOUTS WE WENT THROUGH. BY THE END OF THIS WEEK WE HAVE ALREADY LOST A FEW PEOPLE AND POUNDS AND ITS POSSIBLE A FEW MORE PEOPLE WILL EITHER LEAVE OR BE SENT OUT BY NEXT WEEK.

BUT THIS IS A GREAT THING. THESE HIGH STANDARDS ARE NECESSARY, AND EVERYBODY HAS SURVIVED ANOTHER WEEK. THE THINGS WE ARE LEARNING HERE ARE ONLY THE BEGINNING. THE TIME MANAGEMENT IS BECOMING LESS OF AN ISSUE AND WE SLOWELY COMING TO GRIPS WITH SHARING THIS RIDE WITH OVER 100 OTHER PEOPLE. BUT AS WE’VE BEEN TOLD, THIS HASN’T EVEN STARTED YET. SO MANY INCREDIBLE CLASSES AND STORIES FROM OUR SUPERIORS HAVE BEEN TOSSED AT US IT FEELS LIKE IT CAN’T “JUST BE THE BEGINNING”. BUT IT IS. AND THERE WILL BE A LOT MORE TO TALK ABOUT ONCE WE LEARN HOW TO KEEP OUR FLIPPING SQUAD BAYS CLEAN AND QUIET. IN YOUR LETTERS HOME, REMIND US TO SHUT UP AND FOLLOW ORDERS. YOU WILL BE DOING US WHAT IS KNOWN IN CIVILIAN WORLD AS “A SOLID”!
