Graduates: March 6, 2015

Week 07 brought new challenges as with every week prior. Reveille was now at 0500 not 0530 and each day started with an intense workout lead by one of our Company Commanders. We would get up at 0500, take morning muster, and you better be up and moving with a sense of urgency to get to the gym by 0525 to stretch so the Company Commanders can put their finishing touches on us! We also got into our dress uniforms for an inspection by the Battalion Officer. You can look flattering in your dress uniform as long as it is worn properly, within regulations, and with the correct attitude. Our inspection went good, but this is still no time to slack off, we have to remain focused and take it one day at a time.

We were reminded that in order to earn respect we have to continue to excel and cross the finish line on graduation day. Although the weeks seem to fly by the days seem to take an eternity, they are long, stress filled days. Recruits are still nervous over the required knowledge and finals. We have been finalizing our travel plans and reporting to our first units. We have started to get more freedoms from the Company Commanders as they allow us to bring ourselves to class and wake ourselves up, and have an evening routine rather than time objectives.

Saturday brought another highlight for V-190 as we got 10 hours of off base liberty. We got to go out into the public for the first time since our arrival at Cape May. Some ate good meals and went to movies, while others took the time to call family and relax away from the stress of recruit training.

With the graduation of U-190, VICTOR is the senior company on the regiment. We are now the example for the other companies to follow. When a junior company sees us we have the duty to lead by example, V-190 has 05 days and a wake up, let’s stay focused, driven, and lets finish strong!
