Week 02

Although the days were long week 02 at Tracen Cape May flew by for the fresh Coast Guard Recruits. Days with intense emotion, sincerity, challenges, time objectives and comradery among the recruits, Alpha-192 is slowly but surely learning how to work as a team.

The week was filled with training sessions at the gym, as well as a swim assessment that was looming over all of the recruits’ heads. Seeing how if they failed the assessment, they would have to wake up even earlier every day to get the practice they needed for the last assessment in week 07. The majority of the recruits passed. Although some did not, but even with that all of the recruits were satisfied to know they gave 100 percent. Knowing they would get a second chance everyone was feeling fine. To follow those days the recruits went back to the gym for and endurance exercise in the Olympic pool. Although tiring; all of the recruits pushed through.

The biggest part of week 02 was meeting the Alpha-192 mentors. 03 Coast Guardsmen with very knowledgeable advice for the recruits. What made the big difference is we were reassured by our mentors that the pain and stress is only temporary and pushing through will be the best, most humbling experience of their lives.
