02 weeks down 06 to go. Recruits are reflecting on the time at training center Cape May from the moment we met at the USO in Philadelphia. There was a bit of chemistry and a lot of positive vibes about boot camp. Some things changed once we passed signs directing the bus to Cape May and we got a lot more nervous when we saw the Sexton Hall Company Commanders waiting to greet us. One of the Company Commanders got on the bus and told us to “sit up straight” and Quebec-192 quickly responded “Sir yes Sir”. That night ended and our lives soon became misery. The next day we spent sitting at the medical building. All day we were processed and the next day we were at medical again.


Friday is when the fun began. We met our Company Commanders and Quebec-192 was officially formed. That day we spent getting acclimated to our CC’s and what they are all about. We woke up Saturday and spent the day sweating. All we did was get worked out for not achieving our goals. Sunday we had divine hours and got our racks put together. The rest of the day was sweat, sweat, sweat.


The 2nd week we spent learning about the Coast Guard Core Values, rates and ranks, and how to march. We are trying to achieve our time objectives, but ultimately failing and paying with sweat. We met the Chaplain on Tuesday and he brought us news of the outside world. There was a class on saluting which was tough to learn. A lot of information has been dumped on us and we are still trying to figure it all out and keep it in our heads.
