Lima-194 Blog Week 04

Recruit Training in Week 04 was what most Recruits would look at as being halfway to the finish line. The amount of Required Knowledge that must be learned increases with each passing day, and everyone is held accountable for their mistakes. Monday was an eventful day as we made our way to the Administrative Building to receive our Identification Cards, also known as a Common Access Card. While most Recruits met the cameras gaze with the thousand yard stare, others cracked a smile. That wasn’t the only time Recruits sat in front of a camera. Later that day we received individual photos. Being able to don the combination cover along with part of the dress uniform instilled us with a sense of pride, knowing what we represent. Within the classroom we learned about different types of housing along with enlisted careers. The rest of the week involved more practical means of learning, such as firefighting. Having completed the test for firefighting L-194 had a new respect for firefighters. Later on that same day we learned how to conduct colors. The Physical Fitness Assessment had to be taken once again; both males and females had to meet the standards for pushups, sit-ups and the mile and a half run. Recruits were also able to fill out their “dream sheets”, listing where they would like to go be it afloat or at sea. Lastly the recruits took the midterm exam earning the midterm pennant for L-194, bragging rights for achieving an overall high percentile score. With fresh haircuts and an unbreakable will L-194 leaves week 04 in the dust.
