Week 06 Summary

Greetings from the other side, as the grim reaper, the predator, and the fearless leader lead Kilo-195 into week 06 they decided on Sunday to let Kilo complete the jungle gym on steroids, the confidence course. Consisting of high beams to climb over, obstacles to hurdle over, walls and nets to climb and ropes to straddle and push ourselves to climb and ring the bell to complete the course and to be over; this course had it all. Nearly less than a fourth of the company rang the bell in the end, and those that did have the confidence to get it done. Myself personally could not have gotten it done without the cheering on from my shipmates and the faith and trust in my company commanders. The main theme of this week was the shooting range and putting our firearms required knowledge to the test with our little friend, the P229 Sig Sauer. On Monday, half the company split to preform admin work towards our duty stations and contacting our sponsors, and the other half did day 01 of the firearms training. The next day, the same group who did the training, did the shooting at the range. The difference between port side and Dirty Harry is the fact that Dirty Harry was a gunslinger in Hollywood. Port side were gunslingers in Cape May at the air force range. They earned a score of 80% accuracy.

As the next 02 days went on, Starboard side grabbed the holster and port side grabbed the books. Just when you thought port side set the mark, Starboard Side shattered it and blew it out of the water like a United States submarine on a German-U-Boat. They shot a 81% and with that closed in the books, Kilo-195 earned the firearms accuracy pennant.

On Thursday, Kilo assisted in India’s company graduation performing watches, and clean up after the graduation. It was stressful, but like a fly in soup, we swam through it. Then the day after, when nothing was appearing to be going wrong suddenly there was a noticeable attitude change in our company commanders, with zero warning all hell broke loose that Friday night. All 03 sharks were in the tank in Healy Hall and we were the bait. While holding things above our heads, we chanted effort or die, because “in this business, if you don’t put your best effort into it people will die” – fearless leader. It was a long night, and it was about to get longer as we packed our sea bags and hiked all the way around the regiment to the beach. With some more sweat and yelling, Kilo Company had earned their colors. Kilo marched back with cadence in the air and our pride flying high, it was an early Christmas present that we had earned, Eleanor is her name. While not being flown, she resides in her own rack in main muster. With that, some other items were thrown off and placed on the table. Kilos Davinci Crew, the artists of the regiment unveiled the t-shirt designs which looked snazzy. Probation was taken off which means instant ramp or reversions, and (drum roll please) Kilo can now sing cadences as long as the company commanders are leading. As Kilo-195 continues to roll the coal down the road to graduation, we continue to loose the weak links and build stronger ones. Our focus is to stay on point and to not lose the momentum we have built up. We thank you for all the prayers, support, letters, and we wish you all a Merry Christmas from our home to yours. Have a great week and Kilo Company will have another operation fireside Monday.
