Week 04 was absolutely crazy for hotelians a roller coaster of ups and downs, well mostly downs. The regular day for hotel starts with a fire fire fire. Some would say Incentive training is a great start for any day, we don’t think so. The weather at Cape May is as crazy as our days from freezing wind to rainy storms. But no bad weather would stop us hotelians this week. We had way too many tests and drills in one week. We were under the microscope from many directions one of them being the section commander close order drill test to see if we were capable of marching around the regiment alone. Our section commander watched us like a hawk any wrong move and his eyes will catch you! Hotelians were terrified. The start of the test was a disaster, we were certain when our marching squad leader marched us into a street sign that we failed instantly. But we pulled it together and toughed out wind gusts that muffled commands and blew our hats off, our section commander admired our military bearing and awarded us the ability to march ourselves over the regiment we are still debating whether that was the right idea or not, but it shows us our growth as a company. The next day our section commander was back but for a very different reason. Chief Snyder, along with 10 of his closest friends descended upon our squad bay like hungry sharks. Have you ever experienced a hurricane? Well a company commander hurricane is much worse. It’ll tear apart your squad bay and if you’re unlucky enough you will get a ticket to ramp. Ramp is a program for recruits who need some extra motivation its essentially 24/7 CrossFit while constantly screaming ramp, its boot camp on steroids for 4 days as if boot camp isn’t hard enough. After all that hotelians faced fire and this time it was real. We had 05 minutes to don our firefighting ensemble and self-contained breathing apparatus. Was it fun? We were not so amazed by the task. We crawled on the floor like turtles and were soaking wet from all the water but yet another test we have successfully passed. Oddly enough no one ran out of oxygen and passed out. Although the biggest event of the week was hotelians dream sheet. We put all of our hope and future dreams on the smallest four lines of a form and now we await our orders we all hope we get our number one choice. The last major test of the week was our midterm it was no laughing matter fail and you are in trouble. not only did we score high but also got our first pennant to hang from our guidon with an average of 95 percent. Finally the week is over hotel 197 is in good spirit and looking forward to week 05. They already know it will be one big battle. Hotelians vs the world.
