Sierra 198 Recruit Journal Week 07

International Maritime Signal Flag Sierra

Formed: May 12, 2020
Graduates:  July 02, 2020

Another week in the books for Sierra Company! The last one they will share together as a company. Graduation day inches closer every day. This whole week has been focused on some last tweaks to make these recruits prepared to be full-fledged Coasties. They earned three pennants to show off on their guidon, earned actual Coastie ballads, and finalized plans on getting to their next units and A-schools. Finals were taken, and ACED! Sierra Company debriefed with their Company Commanders, learned about their careers, what it takes to become a Company Commander, and got to see the people behind the covers! Who would’ve guessed Petty Officer Sauers is one of the nicest people in real life, or that Petty Officer Vratsenes actually smiles…a lot.

Maverick (The Company guidon) gets tucked in every night to its own rack, and sleeps peacefully as Sierra continues to perform well maintaining the right to march with the Company colors and the privilege to be sung songs by their Company Commanders! Chief Resto is giving the Company a chance to earn his Section Commander Pennant from him this week and, Oh Boy does Sierra want it!

New cadences were learned and sung. Today the recruits earned the pleasure of on base liberty, able to share their adventures of boot camp, as well as stuff their stomachs full of sodas, candies, and Ice Creams from the exchange. Tomorrow starts the last week as recruits, they have been well prepared to do great things! We miss our families and look forward to being able to talk on a daily basis!
