Alpha 199 Recruit Journal Week 02

Graduates:  September 11, 2020

Another week has gone by.  We are getting closer to that day we are looking forward to, graduation day.  Even so, we accomplished great things that will lead us to our goal as a company.  A-199 had one of the greatest weeks so far during recruit training.

In this particular week we had so many things to do. They were important as practically everything during boot camp, but some of it was significantly important as we prepare to begin our careers in the United States Coast Guard.

As Coastguardsmen we need to be able to serve the people of the United States.  As our ethos says, we are their shield.  And one of the very important things we did during the past week was our swim assessment.  With adrenaline we jumped into the pool from the platform.  Sometimes that test felt like we were in a dangerous life or death situation.  Regardless of that fear, we all did our best.

Also, we got an insight of what we should expect once we complete this rigorous training.  We received a visit from our mentor Commander Lewis.  She contributed to another inspirational moment that we liked this week.  Many of us could ask her questions about the life once we get to our first unit.  Commander Lewis answered all of our concerns and she even watched us marching.  We, A-199, will not forget this week for sure!  Not because of all I’ve already mentioned, but because we worked on our dream sheet.  Yes, this is the page we fill out requesting where to go in our first unit.  Now, we Just wait for the good news.

A-199 continues striving to reach success and we will make it in the upcoming weeks.  We are Alfa-199!
